Flights and accommodations usually take lots of money. After travelling for many years I have now found a way how to find the cheapest flight tickets. Below I am going to discuss the best strategy to find cheap flights to save money on flights and the best places to look for cheap flights.

In all the years I’ve been travelling, I’ve spent a lot of time on different websites trying to find the best ways to save money and the best flights as quickly as possible. With the right tools and patience, finding cheap flights anywhere is easier than ever.

Here are my best tips for finding and booking the cheapest flight tickets to anywhere.

Learn How to Find the Cheapest Flight Tickets

Use incognito window.

Have you ever noticed that flight prices slightly increase when you keep looking for a flight on the same browser? Trust that your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. Once airlines know you’re interested, they tend to raise the prices of flights. They do this by keeping track of the cookies in your browser and changing prices to scare you into booking a flight before the prices go up.

Make it a habit to search for flights in a “incognito” window to avoid this tracking and ensure you always see the fairest and cheapest price.

If you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox, just press Control (or Command on a Mac) + Shift + P incognito window will open. If you are using Safari or Google Chrome, you can go incognito by pressing Control (or Command on a Mac) + Shift, + N. If you do this, a new browser window will open, which will let you browse without being seen.

Use the best search engines for flights.

As part of how they make money, search engines take a cut of the price of the flight and show you a higher price to cover that cost. Even though every search engine does this, the trick is to find the one with the lowest inflation rate.

From my experience, the cheapest flights can be found on Google Flights, Skyscanner and Momondo. Prices are constantly changing. Thus, I recommend downloading the app and checking on the go.

Find the cheapest times to fly.

Flight prices can change a lot depending on the day of the week, which is not news. Data and the history of flight prices show that Tuesday is the best day to book. It looks like most airlines start their sales on Monday nights, so Tuesday morning is when you can get the best prices. Most of the time, you could save up to 25%. However, there is no any guarantee which days of the week are cheaper than others. So, if your travel dates are flexible, it can pay off big time to look at prices for a month and see which days are the cheapest.

Below are the ways how we can find cheapest day to fly

Think about your flight connection options.

It’s easy to book all of your flights at once, and doing so will make sure you don’t miss any connections. However, sometimes it’s better to book your connecting flights separately.

Booking flights separately is a great way to save money, especially if you want to use your layover to visit another city. But do not book your flights too close together. If you do, you could miss your next flight if your 1st flight gets delayed. I always book at least 24 hours of layover time so that I can explore the city, and the rest of the time, I can stay in the airport, do my blog updates, video editing, and my office work.

Take advantage of mistakes made by airlines

Airlines have been known to post wrong fares because of technical problems or human error. Sometimes, these mistakes can lead to incredibly cheap flights. There are a few ways to find these error fares, but most of the time, you can find them on Skyscanner and Google Flights by using the “Whole Month” method and then choosing the fares that look like they are the cheapest.

Keep track of ticket sales.

Aside from taking advantage of mistakes, it’s always helpful to know about sales on flights. I suggest joining the mailing lists of different airlines and checking them every so often to see if any of their sales are right for you.

Look for low-cost airlines.

low-cost airlines.

When you book a flight with a big airline, the price includes; a free snack or meal, extra legroom, two carry-on items, and so on. But if you want to fly for less money and are willing to give up some comfort, a budget airline is the way to go.

When looking for the cheapest airlines, keep in mind that budget airlines don’t offer as many extras, but their flights are much more affordable than those of the major airlines. From there, you can pay for extra amenities if they are available.

Also, in order to keep costs down, cheap airlines will often charge you more for things like having too much or too little luggage than major airlines would. Also, always check which airports the airlines fly into and out of. Low-cost airlines often avoid big airports to avoid paying high landing fees.

Find out where to fly that will cost the least.

If you are still not sure how to find the cheapest flight tickets, think about flying to the cheapest place on the map or to the most affordable airport close to where you want to go. Most of the time, you can fly into a nearby airport and then take a bus or train to your final destination.

To find out, go back to Skyscanner, enter the city you’re leaving from, and then click “Everywhere” under the “To” heading. This will show you a list of cities and the places where you can fly for the least amount of money.
